Subject: Re: Netflix to acquire Warner Bros

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

While they are swimming in cash, all they need to do is borrow it, it does not have to come out of petty cash fund.   Then raise prices to compensate for the bill.  I wanted to cancel years ago, back when they lost rights to the marvel stuff that they did better than the 'true' owners ever could dream of.   But wife, 'i still need it'

Like Daredevil or the defenders which i thought was great, they do have their moments ( which is odd for me, normally i don't like those kinds of shows.. ) . I *really* liked their adaptation of Altered carbon, at least the first season. 2nd season, no. screw that garbage.

Wednesday, ruined that to. Which is a shame, Jenna could have been one of the greats that played that part. But no, they destroyed any hope out of the gate. I was really looking forward it..

Well this was unexpected.

I didn't think Netflix had that kind of money.

They're claiming "more choice and greater value for consumers" ... hah.

This used to be a very unpopular thing to say - but the tide has turned in the last couple of years.

The Netflix buyout may not happen now.  I guess Trump has said 'there are issues' and claims he has to be personally involved. And no, im not joking, he really said that. He needs to get his priorities straight.  I wonder if one of his kids wanted to buy it instead with all that cash they have got from using his presidency as a branding tool..

Whatever it takes to avoid Bugs Bunny suddenly having Big Mike as a boss is fine with me.

Id like to see the road runner be back on. It was a staple of my childhood.   Not that i 'need' it as i have several DVDs and wont be watching commercials, but it was stupid to remove it, and it needs air time.

Oh and im ok with the FTC getting involved in a large sale like that, but a president, no, they should be worried about more important things.

They were shutting off the music channels that are clones of each other across multiple geographic areas.  Not shutting off all their music channels.

Actually, the reason why Netflix might not purchase Warner is because Skydance is performing an hostile takeover through Paramount, for a higher price. The fun part is it seems Paramount/Skydance's offer has been on the table for a while, Warner just ignored it and went with Netflix, which is highly suspicious and would make the board at Warner liable for missmanaging the investor's funds.

Not saying there was or wasn't ( i honestly dont care.. )  my beef was that a siting president is taking time out of his day to be involved. That is not his job.

( now FTC, sure, they can get involved if need be as that IS their job )

"I want a President that is less political.."

Heard this so many times. Variations of this. "They say things, worded politically, that they don't believe in and never deliver" |

From Bush through Clinton and Obama and Bush and.. my entire life has been a Bush/Clinton dynasty and everyone said their politics were fake and shallow and sounded good but never delivered.

Now you have a guy who does UFC, and F1, and Football games - who is "populist", and speaks frankly and bluntly and without political hype...

And you hate him for being "non-presidential".

You deserve what you get, if things go back the way they were. I'm almost dead. I'm 55 and I've lived very hard. If I have 10 years left, I'm good - but knowing my luck... I have 40.

His job is to be appointed to the position he is in and to carry it out in the way he thinks is most effective. If that works - he is a success - even if you don't like it. By this measure, Reagan was the LAST damn good President our country has had.

Reagan was more polished, more politic - but he also had the same DGAF blunt quality that Trump has, in some respects. If these are the bookends of my lifetime in US politics - that is a pretty good way to start it and end it - but I think we're going to see a wave of Trump style politics going forward - honest politicians who speak bluntly. The Left will get it eventually, and liars like the Polisis and Newsomes will disappear - for politicians who really say what they believe. I think that will at the very least, be better for America.

Never said i approved of the others personally or policy. But they did at least hide it better, but no, not totally. I'm over the noise and disrespect, which is on 11 at the moment.

What id prefer is zero politics. Just go out and do their freaking job. All of them.  And no, not saying that is going to happen, that is the 'game'. but i can still wish it to end.

That is what I don't get. "At least they did hide it better."

Why hide it? I hate when your company gets acquired, and the new CEO has a "town hall meeting," and tells everyone, "Don't worry, we bought this company for its best resource, its people - nothing is going to change - we still need you, we still value you, we still... blah blah blah..."

Then inevitably, 3 weeks, 3 months, 18 months later - "We've had a strategic change in our corporate direction, and unfortunately, it means we're going to have to tighten our belts, we're going to have to make some painful decisions - we're going to have to do more with less. To that end, we're going to reevaluate what our departmental staffing requirements are - and this means that while we still expect you to give 100%, we're going to have to achieve this by working smarter, with reduced headcount, and..."

That is politics. That is hiding it better. I'd much prefer someone to come in and go, "We're overstaffed, a lot of you are redundant, we're going to make the company leaner and more efficient, and if you're not going to be part of that, you're not moving forward with us after this acquisition - so now is the time to either decide that you're going to be part of this organization going forward - or you're going to go find someplace that will be complacent with your under-performance - because we have no room for that." from the start.

Same thing with Trump. He speaks bluntly, frankly, and I think honestly. Everyone who has worked for any of his companies always seems to have great things to say about how he rewards meritocracy and doesn't pull punches about cutting the fat from the bone.

He runs the country the same way he allegedly runs his businesses. Things aren't candy coated - and if people aren't delivering his goals - he doesn't seem to hesitate to remove them from their appointments.

I personally love this.

Also, some are not.

Some, even feed on the noise.

And some, like me, are tired of it and would like to see these people banished from the earth.  If it was all about ' business ' and not acting like a vocal crybaby jerks, id be ok with it. But its not. its 24/7 offensive marketing/spin from these people ( and i use the term "people" loosely ).

With all due respect, that is BS.

Ideology is a combination of two things: a goal to achieve and a plan to achieve that goal. People claiming for ideology-free politicians think they are asking for controversy-free politicians, when in fact what they would get is people without stated goals and with no plans.

People without goals and a plan have no place in office, period.

So how do you do this? How do you banish us from the earth? Violence? Are you going to slit my throat on a train? Shoot me in the neck with a rifle because of what I believe?

When you disagree with me as vehemently as you do - how do you shut down my fascist voice?

It can't be any answer but violence - because your "reason" will never make me take your side. Only your elimination of me.

It is OK - if violence is your answer. But I want you to know this... so is my response.

And what if I am better at violence than you?

I don't like *that* answer... You lose.

There are a number of ways that don't require violence, however some do take a couple of generations.  And even if it was via violence, it would never work at an "individual" level like that.

However, as i wont be come emperor anytime soon, you are safe regardless.

History is full of demonstrations of that bit of human nature: someone comes along who speaks an authentic message of hope, and those with power and money simply cannot tolerate it.  That person must be destroyed.

Ghandi, Christ, MLK, Trump, Charlie Kirk, etc.

When the powerful elite build their lives around lying cheating and stealing, the one thing they cannot tolerate existing is the genuine article.
