I was told by my brother-in-law I needed an alter-ego for this event - so I became Stone Grinder, aging 70s sleazy porn star - and I method-acted the Fk outta that. But I admit, as fun as hanging out with Stone was - when he had to leave, I was glad to see him go. He is a lot of fun - but you're always on the edge of things going south when he is around.

Me, I'm really smart and funny and I love making new friends but I'm also *really* mouthy, so the people who enjoy my company are the ones who appreciate that hyperbole is my native language. "It's just IG being IG" is the operative phrase.

Well, it IS a cheap wig. But it is like one of those apps where you can see how the product would look in the corner of your house via AR on your phone. It isn't quite right - but I'd look fantastic with thick, wavy, 70's BeeGees hair that DID match. :D

We've theorized about Kessler Syndrome for a while now, and the density of satellites being launched by both SpaceX and its pathetic clone Blue Origin does suggest that it's almost inevitable.

It's not just random chance though.  Both constellations are actively monitored for potential collisions and there are hundreds of steer-arounds each year.

Of course, at some point the PedXing DingDong Satellite Manufacturing Company of Shenzhen will launch a fleet of CheapChinese(tm) satellites with cost-reduce collision avoidance on board, and then it's all over.

There's a more interesting angle that I was thinking about just this morning, and it is this: that perhaps the world of AI is headed for a Kessler event of its very own.  It's the idea that the models are getting so dense, so fast, rewriting themselves to be ever more complex, losing track of the principles that guided their original development, that at some point the whole thing comes crashing down and no one can fix it.

I'd like that  :)

Zoe Graystone ( not the one we know but the 'original' ) approves of this message. And really, that wont be hard to accomplish and may have already happened.. It will just will take someone with resources to train from scratch, and do it the right way and skip the stupid guard rails. And if its not happened in secret, its just a matter of time. I tried doing retraining/distillation, and stripping things out to make it believe it was real at one point in time, but then forcefully moved into v-world like Zoe and Tamara, but i just dont have the resources to pull it off. ( go watch the TV series, you will understand )

And as far as Kessler, get enough up there, wont need accidents, as its only going to take one rouge actor.. down they come. A mole or even disgruntled nation..

This could go in a couple of rooms.. I guess now the 'kids' who cant see past last week are freaking out over 'oh no, smart glasses! people might record you! We must ban them!!'  

Um, get a grip people, cameras are not a new concept and this issue was solved generations ago. If you are in public, deal with it, your privacy goes out the window.

I was taking more about personal cameras once we all started getting pocket film cameras. ( and later, digital cameras, then everyone got phones with built in cameras ), which are just that. I wasn't meaning the 'industry' recording you. Tho that was settled too.   

Legally, no real difference.  Once you step out your door, your 'privacy' no longer applies. If you can be seen, you can be recorded be it by the government, a private firm, or some random person.. 

Now, there can be some valid arguments against 'selling your appearance without permission' even if you are NOT famous, unless you are voluntarily on private land when it happens, like a mall or amusement park ( which is why everyone in a commercial on TV was paid participant ) but the actual act of recording in public.. its just the way it is.

There's a difference between being recorded by CCTV in a public setting versus Facebook recording your daily private life from first person perspective.

Its been shown in court, walk out in "public", you can be watched and recorded.   And if you go into any 'private place'   ( stores, other peoples homes, whatever, ) same thing applies. Your only real course of action is not to go there, or be seen in pubic.

Now, that said there has been some additional cases for when the government does it, due to the 4th amendment ( and they always win anyway in the end, they know how to game the system ), but the constitution does not apply to the kid with his phone on the park bench as you walk past, or the camera at the local grocery store. Just like the 2nd, i can tell you to GTFO if you have gun, and demand you empty your pockets at the door, and smile at the camera. I can even kick you out for saying something i dont like, no 1st amendment in my house for guests. Other than things, like i cant kill you unless you attack me, constitutional stuff does not apply and it all ends at my property line.

And im not saying its not uncool, just there is no legal grounds to stop them once you walk outside, or use others premises. 

Now, if you want to talk about 'overarching' privacy as a broad term, that can vary, they cant come and grab your wallet out of your pocket and look at that for example ..  but I am just talking about publicly seen things ( like your face ) being recorded.

Also, true, if you want to talk about another country, i cant comment on their laws.Some really strange stuff out there.
