Drove up to a drive thru for lunch today and asked for a small meal.

"Sorry we only have large."

Well did you know that you can fit a small quantity of fries or drink in the large sized containers??

The current generation of kids working at fast-food places aren't smart enough to figure that out.  One problem I had when I worked in Baltimore was illiteracy.  Kids working at McD's with absolutely no ability to read.  Always made me wonder how they even got the job.

When the entire generation is functionally illiterate due to public schooling, they have no choice. Other than go 100% automated.

McD's has always been the employer of last resort. Thank god *somebody* is hiring the illiterate.

Ever tried to order fast food in what you believe is the order taker's native language? Believe it or not they will usually get it even wronger than they do when you order in English. Probably because the register has buttons labeled in English and they have to mentally translate in both directions.

This totally happens to me. Not when doing fast food orders, but when doing other things for American employers. I find myself thinking in English when doing stuff for them instead of my native language and then I switch back to native once I return to my horses.

So: horsian? Horsese? What is the native language for horses?

Horses have a very rich language. It is full of subtely. There are horse bites that mean "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, PLEASE LOVE ME BACK!" Then there are horse bites that mean "Leave me alone."

My horses are actually quite knowledgeable and also know the most important words of human language. They certainly know what "barn", "grass", "pasture", "apple" and "reward" mean.

Incidentally, I have a zero toleranze policy against unloving horse bites, but I let horses hurt me plenty with the loving bites. Fun times.

That's why I use a technique that I have developed to help with this. When I insert food into my mouth, I reciprocate my jaw in such a way to crush the bits of food between my teeth, sometimes using my tongue as well to help tear it into smaller pieces. I like to call it mastication, or more casually "chewing." This way, when I swallow, most of the food has been reduced to small, mushy masses that are able to easily travel 2/3 and often even 3/3 of the way down my esophagus with very little difficulty.

this can happen even with mashed potatoes..

thankfully after forcing fluid down and trowing it back up several times i was able to dissolve it enough to force what was left down.    was throwing up blood at one point.

Agreed, there are communities for most anything you can think of. And many things you cant think of.

Does not make them bad people of course.

Saw a new one today:

  • Left hand merge into a 4 lane interstate ( which are unsafe by design, but that is a rant for another time )
  • Guy drives down to the end of the ramp, stops, turns on his signal and then proceeds to turn right into traffic ( not merge but a hard right )
  • As cars doge and squeal he goes across all 4 lanes, to the off ramp on the other side and proceeds to drive up that.
Thankfully i was perhaps 10 cars behind the mess so saw it coming.

Freaking morons.

Yikes, sorry to hear about your ruined pants. I quit taking the highway to work after a less exciting event like that. I'll get on it occasionally for one-off trips, but driving it twice daily just feels like odds I could do without.
