We just used it as an excuse to watch TV while eating greasy food. Of course, when half of the household is under 12 and the entire household doesn't really care about football ... and when the game is so dull that by the second half the only team that has shown any real performance was Madonna's backup dancers, suddenly watching the game becomes less desirable than clicking the DVR over to a "Penguins of Madagascar" marathon.

We sure did enjoy those onion rings, though...

I like watching sports in person, I do not like watching sports on TV. It could be the color commentary which I find stupid, it could be I just don't like watching TV, or it could be because I have worked in television (including sports).

hm, I dislike watching sports, except that I do it too myself. and then, yes, rather in person than in tv.

And then more non-profi sports than those who are paid.

Its simply beyound my reality, and I can't identify with a person who doesn't have a professional life next to the sports.

Sports as an addon to life and for a purpose, yes. Sports as primary purpose of life, no.

sports are better on tv I think because the camera guys show you the interesting bits all in one place rather than having to look all around for it yourself.
I've noticed that at a bunch of baseball games I've been to. I don't have the instinct to know what's goin gon, so I have to watch intently and occasionally I'll look away and then I have to make an effort to figure out what happene and catch up with what's going on.
tv much better they do that for you. I hate tv, but i have to admit that they're good at what they do.

Better yet: go to the game while simultaneously watching it on your phone or some other sort of portable device. You would get to enjoy the energy of being present at the game while at the same time having a set of "smart binoculars" and also someone explaining to you what's going on. And then you don't have to miss out on the opportunity to pay $75 for a hot dog.
