Went to Gettysburg, since nothing says "Merry Christmas" like civil

It's actually called Spaghettisburg. The signs are wrong.

The food in Spaghettisburg underwhelmed us.

I fear living close enough to the DC-Metro area, or working near Annapolis, MD, has ruined my tolerance for food rating 'okay'.

Speaking of foods: I was invited to two christmas parties on the same day, by two of my clients. Both went to very posh and expensive restaurants, the kind were the portions are small and the foods have complicated names. Both relied heavily on doing funky stuff with parts of not-so common animals. I was rather underwhelmed by most of the stuff. For most of the time, I am a vegetarian and a passionate cook. It is always easy to add taste to a dish by adding meat of any kind. Since I can not do that at home, I have to really on a rather large collection of fresh spices and interesting combinations of vegetarian ingredients..

So what was my "beef" with the dishes? Technically, they were prepared really good. But that was their main feature and I simply expect that in restaurants. Only two of the courses had some new and challenging taste to offer, the rest was ok. Being invited to such food is ok, but I'd rather not spend my own money on that. In generally, I find it overrated.

Alright, who's still going strong with their resolutions?

It's Day 8 and I'm already back to huffing kittens.

Gads, I didn't mean to be away so long, but I kinda got carried away

with the holidays.

We heard. Your "Black Male Santa Rampage" made the papers, even up here.

the_mgmt - It's all in what the restaurant is meant to do. Sometimes it's to create things that are familiar and jsut are really well done. Other times it's mean to challenge the diner. Both have their place.. Of course, if they do neither well, then it's not so useful.

Awesome! It was all I ever really wanted for Christmas.

The log out banner also produces a similar error, I mentioned it before, the Sysop doesn't care about this or the https problem.  He cares more about his family and his cats.

Well, I can agree with that.

Actually I delegated banner customization to the cats, and they've been slacking off. I think their paws are too big for the keyboard or something.

Cats should be given mescaline, thrown in a pillowcase, and then off the nearest high building.

Hey... that's not nice! One does not simply put a cat on a diet.

No one does not. Not unless one sleeps somewhere that the cat cannot get to you.

Well, technically, it was really well done. Maybe my expectations were out of scope. It's often like that, when you expect nothing, it can overwhelm you. If you have high expectations, it is hard to meet them.

I actually thought that birthdays are good times to reevaluate your life, and make new resolutions. Of course, choosing between New Year's and birthdays doesn't really make much difference to me personally, but in general it feels more personal a time to choose.
I started making little changes in my life back in August, and I'm still holding most of them, so I am kind of proud.
