My problem with funding Planned Parenthood is that Planned Parenthood says they need the money.... but then turns around and donates to the democratic party. If you can donate to a political party you don't need government funding.

Public Broadcasting is a HUGE money maker. Those sponsorship give a lot of money to the stations.
Not only that Jim Hanson products makes plenty of money selling Tickle Me Elmo dolls, public broadcasting is just corporate welfare.
Remember when Mitt R'money talked about defunding public broadcasting? The MSM painted this big picture of the big mean rich private equity guy firing Big Bird. Then when a few folks did some research it turned out that Big Bird was way richer than R'money.
Funding for those broadcasts will continue to come from Viewers Like You.

It's just not correct that nonprofits can't engage in political speech. 501(c)3's can engage in advocacy, communications, public education, etc. 501(c)(4)'s can do all of the above, and also engage in lobbying, but are not tax exempt.
And after Citizens United, free speech rights for paid political advertisements are very expansive. Donations are nearly unlimited.
