I might as well mention some beers that I like, they are from Unibroue. I like my beers a little darker so Maudite and Trois Pistoles. If you perfer that clear water like beer then their La Fin du Monde is very good.
Beer should be black. Black as is my need. Bleeding, as is my heart.

Seriously, I love darker beers, if I'm going to drink an ale at all. Dominion Stout has been my beer of choice lately. They're relatively inexpensive, but quite nice. I've had better beers, but they're far more expensive.

but, otoh, Alt beer isn't that bad after all, though a guy from cologne isn't supposed to say that.
In high school and college I hated the taste of beer.... but then again at that age you can only afford really cheap beer. When I finally tried a dark beer I enjoyed it. What I found strange was that it tasted like those other beers but stronger. After that I started to discover the micro breweries and all they had to offer.
At least in Florida, "Whole Foods" and "Total Wine and More" sell beers by the bottle so you can try a lot of micro-brews out. Both have a large selection.

No, if you're going to go all emo on us then you should be drinking absinthe, not beer.
Heh... that's right, he was more into Absynth. I've never tried the stuff (and apparently the American version of it isn't quite authentic, since the authentic version is rather illegal here).
But I suspect the stuff is actually kind of vile. I'll stick to Old Dominium Stout on occasion.

Absynth is certainly illegal in the states with the amount of the chemical that other countries brew into it. American Absynth (there are a few brands out there, "Lucid" is one, but it's crap) is synthetic, and horrible, and in terribly miniscule amounts.
You can have a case of it sent to your house from a select few websites if you fudge some info on your order. The companies that send it to you don't have laws against sending it to the US, but the US has a problem with recieving it. It's also illegal to ship that much liquid from outside the states to the interior. If your package is set to arive at your house, and you're not there to sign for it (since it's international) they'll take it back to the USPS/UPS/FEDEX office where it's perfectly legal for them to inspect suspicious packages, as long as it's on their land property. If it's on the truck, in transit, or at your door, they can't do anything about it unless you open the damn thing right in front of them.
Just sayin'
Never tried the stuff though. I have a friend that orders at least one case a year but it's gone before he has a chance to share it with anyone.
