Humidity, rain, discontinued appliances, my basement is moist, the
yard is moist, the air is moist, everything is moist.

It's a plausible theory that Hell may not be hot after all; it might

just be MOIST.

Out here (on my mountain) we say "it feels like Jersey out here today."
That's when the humidity is within 5 numerical points of the temperature on the Fahrenheit scale.... yucky stuff, or "August in Absecon" ....

Maryland isn't always pleasant, either. We've had quite a few days lately that were slightly less heated than usual for summer, but had enough humidity to keep things sticky.

Georgia, though, was the worst I've experienced for this. I kinda begged for rainstorms to make it through the day.

However, Maryland has a significant piece of Redeeming Social Value - namely the Baltimore Inner Harbor complex.

Unless that has drastically changed in the (roughly) 14 years since the Great K2NE Migration West, the Inner Harbor is an abundance of wonderful restaurants, a truly great Aquarium, and not too far from Camden Yards for a baseball game.

Now *that* is an almost-unbeatable comination!!

Those still exist.

We're also close enough to DC to appreciate the museums and such.

I was, admittedly, focused on some of our bad weather.

Do you ever get to Philly?

If you do, might I suggest:

1. the Museum of Natural Science
2. the Rodin Museum
3. the central branch of the Philadelphia Free Library
4. any number of exceptional eateries along South Street
5. the Franklin Institute

Indeed, you could easily occupy two to three days on #1, 2, 3, and 5. And never wander further than one side of the square to the other, with that incredible Alexander Calder fountain in the middle!

And if all that doesn't "do it" for you, then wander to the far end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the iconic Philadelphia Art Museum - you know - that thing that looks like the Parthenon with a statue of Rocky Balboa (unless they've removed it) at the base of those infamous stairs!

And while in Philly, don't forget...

1. a cheese steak at Pat's
2. a soft pretzel from any street corner vendor
3. a hoagie (yes, they're better in Jersey, but....)
4. TASTYKAKES !!! Any convenience store, but for *the* experience...
5. WaWa. A convenience store. What 7-11 only DREAMS of being.

That should keep you busy.... <evil grin>

Heh, it's in an awkward space between being too far and too close.

It's too far to go to on a weekend. But it's too close to go to for a vacation.

From Baltimore you could be in Philly in no more than 2hr 30 min.
It is a "straight shot" right up I-95 North.

Leave Friday late afternoon (early evening) and return Sunday night.
We used to do that (from south Jersey) 4 times a year for the massive model railroad show held just outside the city.

I'm not in Baltimore, though. Baltimore is over an hour's drive for me, in Germantown, MD.

So what's a 3.5 hr drive if you're spending the weekend.

A professor at Wayne State University in Detroit was giving a lecture on Paranormal Studies.

To get a feel for his audience, he asks, "How many people here believe in ghosts?"

About 90 students raise their hands.

"Well, that's a good start. Out of those who believe in ghosts, do any of you think you have seen a ghost?"

About 40 students raise their hands.

"That's really good. I'm really glad you take this seriously. Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost?"

About 15 students raise their hand.

"Has anyone here ever touched a ghost?"

 Three students raise their hands.

"That's fantastic. Now let me ask you one question further...Have any of you ever made love to a ghost?"

Way in the back, Hamad raises his hand.

The professor takes off his glasses and says, "Son, all the years I've been giving this lecture, no one has ever claimed to have made love to a ghost.
You've got to come up here and tell us about your experience."

The Middle Eastern student replied with a nod and a grin, and began to make his way up to the podium. When he reached the front of the room, the professor
asks, "So, Hamad , tell us what it's like to have sex with a ghost?"

Hamad replied, "Shucks, from way back there I thought you said goats."
