To a certain extent. Guys from the ghetto generally don't buy a Microwave box with bricks in it. When you grow up surrounded by cons and hustlers, you become more skeptical.

NYC is at 82% "capacity" right now, but a lot of beds have been
removed since the spring and there are plans in place to add them
back... not sure what you're trying to say here, except that it sounds

like you literally don't understand the idea that 100% full is an
actual problem. That's not a good look on you.

I'm not talking about if/when we hit 100%.... I am talking about the fact that being at 80% capacity isn't unusual. So there's a bit of fear mongering going on. People hear 80 or 90% and freak out, when that's NORMAL.

Of course 100% would potentially be bad, it really depends on how long though?
Hours? A day? Weeks?

My In-Laws both got positive test results back today. My daughter, wife and I are isolating at home.

My Sister-in-Law, Brother In Law, and their 3 kids who visited for Thanksgiving are doing the same thing.

My test is on Saturday.

It isn't my first... but I knew we were playing Russian Roulette with my In-Laws. They were being very Senior Conservative in their approach to it. Not *hostile* about masks and calling it a hoax - just... nonchalant.

Now we wait and hope the family streak of very mild cases and not a lot of intra-family infection continues.

(I'd post a list of grain alternatives, but this is for Rants, not useful advice.)

Grain alternatives taste like bleah. You know what a grainless cake is?

Gross.

You know what a "cracker" alternative is?

Gross.

I did keto for a while. I ate "Baked Cheese cracker alternatives."

They weren't *terrible*. But they were certainly an *alternative*. Just like for my wife, I'm an alternative to George Clooney.

Doesn't mean I *suck*... but George Clooney would have been tastier.

How about grown ass adults who won't eat hotdogs? By the time you're in your mid 30s, you should have put things a lot more disgusting than a processed pig anus into your mouth - and been excited about it.

Fussy adult eaters with no other complicating issues annoy me. Especially if you're asking me to pick up something for you when I run out for lunch. If you won't take it exactly the way it comes off the menu - go get it yourself. You don't like pickles or onions or tomatoes? Whatever - I get not liking something. Pick it off. Don't make it more difficult for people who reached the epitome of their career here-so-far - flipping burgers.

Hipsters can suck it, I went grainfree low carb not because I had weight to lose but because when I tried it I realized it was like night and day, flipping a switch in my brain. I think more clearly, I don't flip out at the drop of a hat and when I do get mad, I calm down and move on far more easily. That's not emotional maturity, that's chemistry, and science with an n of 1. I'll never go back to the way I was, not with a gun to my head. Not to mention diabetes runs in my family and I'm already one tooth short of matching my grandmother by dying with all my teeth. When I leave this mortal coil, I want to go out still being able to walk, think, and chew my own food. Everything's a crap shoot, but this makes it a little more likely.

But everyone who claims to have celiac when they don't can get fucked lol

I've got nothing against your diet. And I think that reducing carbs is a good idea - and grains are not really a natural part of our diet. They're the original highly processed food.

And I eventually adjusted to the Keto diet. I just didn't like the alternatives. I like grains.

There are a lot of other unhealthy habits that I am not going to give up that I should probably worry about more than my pasta. But who knows, maybe the grains are the root of every other problem - and the heroin wouldn't be such a problem if I wasn't washing it down with a Double Double.

I guess that killed the mood. So far, no fevers here, but my wife and I are all feeling all kinds of phantom symptoms that could be imagination or could be an issue. Food hasn't tasted right. I can still smell, and still taste - but everything tastes a little bland - although things like pickles... sour tastes are really sticking out. But again - that might just be my imagination.

I don't know... I think this is day 3 since we found out. Tomorrow are the tests.

I called the vape store, because I'm running low on vape juice, and explained to the woman my issue. I asked if I paid over the phone if she would bring out some juice and drop it in my trunk. She couldn't run my card, so I drove up, gave her the card (sanitized, while wearing latex gloves and a mask) she ran inside, ran it, then brought it all back in a plastic bag for me.

It is weird, the things people will do for other people.

Here at Awesome Acre we're all feeling a bit under the weather. I know when I'm fighting off sickness because I generally don't "get sick" but just have a general malaise, a low-grade headache and lack of energy. It feels like I am a Federation starship and I am "diverting all energy to shields". It's been like that most of the week and I punched out of work a couple of times to rest. My wife has been a little worse, but still no "respiratory" symptoms.
We had a video call with our doctor on Thursday and she sent us in for plague testing on Friday. Results will be here in a few days.

I'm really thinking -- and as a disclaimer, this is my own non-scientific casual observation -- that some people just seem to be genetically more vulnerable to bad symptoms, regardless of their age or co-morbidity or anything else.
We have some relatives in Pennsylvania who are both positive, they're the same age and roughly in similar health, were probably exposed at the same time and level; one just feels kind of gross and the other is in the hospital with pneumonia.

So I kind of feel as if a positive test would be a good outcome for me IF AND ONLY IF this is the worst my symptoms get.

Red meat is good for you. It's rich in protein and iron and other things you NEED to be a Big Strong Human (tm).

Yeah, eating a ton of fatty meat is going to make you a Big Fat Fuck (tm) but cutting out red meat completely is going to make you a weakling.

Remember that old reliable standby: The Square Meal? The four food groups!
It made sense when it was first published and it still makes sense today.
Later revisions such as "the food pyramid" and the "myPlate" model are motivated more by industrial and political models than by food science.

Three Squares a day, eat minimally processed food when you can, don't overdo it on anything, drink plenty of water, and get some exercise. It really is that simple.

Similar. I feel kind of shaky and unsettled when I wake in the morning - generally lacking energy. This morning was rough. Have kind of a dry, itchy, unproductive cough today. Got tested yesterday. Should know by Monday. If this is the worst of it, I'd be fine with getting it over and losing 14 days pay. That won't be pleasant - but it seems like an investment.

I worry that this won't be the worst of it, and I'm worried about the rest of ParanoidDelusions, Inc. Chandler Office too.

It is one of those things - you wanna rip the band aid off and get it over with, because it seems pretty inevitable - but maybe if you wait long enough, it'll just float away in the pool and you won't even notice it is gone.

We evolved to eat meat and benefit from all its compressed energy and other components. its how we got to where we are today.   I dont see any grass eaters that have made it to the moon...

Sure, too much of anything good is still bad, but people who think they can just toss out millions of years of evolution because they 'think its wrong', are fooling themselves. Fundamental biology does not change due to ones 'feelings'. Science, always wins in the end.

Eating a ton of anything will make you a fat fuck.  You need to burn more calories than you consume.   Eating a lot of fatty meats will give you high cholesterol levels.

Vegans are weaklings?  Kendrick Farris begs to differ.
