Subject: Outbound not encrypted

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Installed Citadel and got it working seemingly just fine on Ubuntu 18.04.  However, gmail is indicating that no encryption is present.  I see that Citadel indicates support, and all the training material really does not touch on it, beyond saying its supported, unless I missed something.  Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Subject: password Citadel

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello

Hopefully this is the right room.

I installed Citadel Suite on my newly purchased Raspberry Pi B+. The install went apparently just fine. Upon entering the IP address the Citadel login screen comes up and no matter what I try, it is either a wrong name or wrong password. I re-install the suite twice, I actually started from a blank SD, all to no avail.

DUring the last install I even used the user name as pi and password as raspberry. Still gives me a wrong password answer.

I cannot install the easyinstall, it just does not work.

Thanks for the help,

JB

Subject: Unable to receive email

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi,

Looking for some help pls.

I have installed Citadel on a Raspberry Pi 3.

The system is fine for sending emails. However receiving emails get bounced with a 550 Invalid Recipient.

The Citadel Mail logs show the mails are being received, so the port forwarding is OK. The message in the mail.log is:

CC[11]MSGxxx@yyy.co.uk is being forwarded to xxx @ yyy.co.uk (there is a space inserted either side of the '@' symbol)

This message is repeated three times. Then we have the following line.

Context: [ 11]SR|V[SMTP-MTA] Session Ended

If I login via webcit and send an email to an  internal user, eg from User1 to User2 then the emails are received correctly.

However if send from User1 to User2@yyy.co.uk then an error message box 'Invalid Recipient: User2@yyy.co.uk' is displayed and the message is not sent.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi,

Some further information on thew above issue, if it helps. I turned on additional logging and retried receveing an email.

Logs now read:

         SMTP server: RCPT To:<xxx@yyy.co.uk>

         CC[29]MGSEvaluating recipient #0: xxx@yyy.co.uk

         Directory key is <xxx@yyy.co.uk>

CC[29]MSGxxx@yyy.co.uk is being forwarded to xxx @ yyy.co.uk

last two lines are repeated a further two times, then we have:

         CC[29]MSGvalidate_recipients()

          CC[29]MGS local: o <>

           CC[29]  room: 0 <>

          CC[29] ignet: 0 <>

           CC[29]MSG error: 1 <Invalid recipient: xxx@yyy.co.uk>

Again any help or insight gratefully received.

Hi,

Problem solved.

When the site was created the Fully Qualified Domain Name was initialized to 'mail.yyy.co.uk'

I created the initial users whilst the FQDN was set to this value.

I then changed the FQDN to, what I believe it should be , that of 'yyy.co.uk'. This however seems to invalidate all users, and you have to delete and recreate  them. This I have done and now all is working fine.

Hi,

citserver don't start after update on new kernel (debian/devuan stable and also testing). On the old kernel 4.9 it runs correctly.

If I start citserver manually, citserver crashes with a segmentation fault. If I delete the database then the database was created and then crashes with segementation fault

I have tested it on different computers and also with a new snaphot, it ist alwas the same.

The output on console-start:

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Evening, all.

Just brought a new Citadel install on Slackware 14.2 up, and I'm having a heck of a time getting connected to it from the outside world. I have a private domain at no-ip.com...the update client is running,

and returns the correct external ip on a ping. Citserver and webcit daemons are running, I can connect from loopback and the internal net. The box's ip has been placed in the DMZ on the router (Comcast DOCSIS-3),

but no one outside can ping it. Wondering if Slackware comes with a preconfigured iptables thats dropping incoming packets?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug

That sounds like your system has a version of curl that doesn't support SMTP.

Thank you for your help in in advance :)

Obviously we can't test Citadel on every possible Linux distribution and CPU architecture. However...

If you're getting a segfault, try running the server from inside a debugger and post a backtrace after it crashes.
