Have you looked at your Administration -> Edit site-wide configuration -> Maximum message length setting to ensure that you're not running into a message size limitation issue?

Subject: Default Room View

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'd like to change an already-created room's default view to look like a Mail folder, rather than a Bulletin Board. It's my understanding this is customizable as a per-user setting, which is inevitable (and fine), but I'd like to change an existing room to default to a different view. From what I gather, this is a (database column?) setting named room.QRdefaultview, but I'm not sure how to go about changing the value from 0 to 1.

Is there a clean way of doing this? Or is there any easy(-ish) tool that can be used to manipulate that db field? I'm guessing some Berk DB tool, or something with sqlite?

This has been driving me crazy. Advice (apart from 'just recreate the room') much appreciated.

Subject: Re: DB errror after migration

I can copy the tree over, but the db schema will have changed ..  is
it best to just db_dump -h all that and db_load it on the other side?

As long as it's the same architecture (such as 64-bit Intel) on both sides, you don't have to dump and load. Citadel Server will automatically recognize the older database and upgrade it in place.

I suggest the following:

1. On the target system, create /usr/local/citadel
2. Copy over all the data files from your old system. The database files go in /usr/local/citadel/data and everything else goes in /usr/local/citadel
3. Run the Easy Install

When setup runs, it will see you have the data files from an existing installation.
It will install the latest version of Citadel Server and when it runs, the data files will be upgraded in place.

Subject: xmpp s2s does not work

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Good day.

I installed Citadel on my sandbox about a 2 months ago. I planned to migrate to it from cyrus and ejabberd. A week ago I found xmpp s2s not working. c2s works well, I can write messages to local users. Upgrading by citadel_easy_install.sh does not help.

There is no attempts to contact with remote servers in /varlog/messages.

How can I debug what happens?

That seems to be an issue with gmail, and not citadel.

Subject: wanting to install on a Debian stretch (stable or 9.1 (now)) server

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Greetings

Trying to install and running into the same road block each of 2 times.

1. trying to use easy install

had a hung install which ended itself (didn't write down the hang point but there were easy 40+ pages in the log file).

2. installing using guide for Debian on the website

   install prints

      no /etc/aliases found

   where this method hangs.

Is this because of systemd or dbus newest 'bits'?

Any suggestions for a successful install?

(Thinking I would rather use nginx - - -can this be added later?

Likely just for a small company - - - at most 10ish users - - - the docs don't suggest any need for more resources or should I start and then migrate to more?

Running on server with dual Xeons and north of 64 GB of ram and lots of HDD so think I have some resources.

Should I be trying to run on a lxc/d container (trying to learn that too))

Hopefully not too many questions

TIA

Dee

Hi,
I recently upgraded from jessie to stretch. Now I get following message if I want to change a users primary mail address:

citserver[24073]: CC[3]MSG Message 0 appears to be corrupted.

The server also seems to recognize me as other User. I tried to fix the Database with db_recover and with the provided script.
Thanks in advance!

How did you install? Also, what version of citadel are you running?

Standard version of debian stretch (stable) installed via apt.

Which version of Citadel comes with that? I do not know what made it into the distro.

I would recommend purging that install and doing easy install. It is almost certainly more stable and up to date than the one in the repository.

Hmm, does citadel replace the info in any vcard entries of with the information retrieved from an ldap server?

Somewhat, although this functionality is being addressed. Initially when a user is created, there is info which is pulled from the LDAP server into the vcard so that citadel has something to work with locally.

Maybe this is part of the problem... I feel like the primary e-mail address gets replaced with the address stored in the ldap directory everytime a user logs in. This was not the case with the Citadel Version from Debian Oldstable (8.24-1).
Hmm.. e-mail is only working for my users if the @domain.tld part is removed from the users primary mail address. Can you give me a hint what may be misconfigured? I spent several hours fixing my problem wihout any luck... :(
Thanks in advance!

I am 100% sure that citadel replaces the primary mail address with the one stored in the ldap directory everytime a user logs in, I just tested it with an example user.

Subject: Handling of mail for local users on Stretch

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi,

I see others are also writing about issues with Citadel on Debian Stretch. It seems that Debian decided the citadel-server package must conflict with any other package providing an MUA. So after upgrading to Stretch I no longer have Exim4 to process local mail deliveries.

So I no longer am receiving system messages for root in /var/mail, instead they are being processed in some way by Citadel. I see in /var/log/mail.log messages like this:

citserver[19276]: CC[28]MSG root is being forwarded to room_aide

So it looks like citadel is getting messages for root, but I don't know where they are going. There is no user "root" configured in Citadel.

Is it possible to configure such a user, and have it receive the mail normally delivered to /var/mail/root by exim4?

If not, what do you recommend?

Thanks

James R. Phillips
