Subject: Re: Installation of Citadel - Errors

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I solved this specific error by downloading the debian package manually and installing it with dpkg -i, thank you.

Hi,

Fri Jun 02 2017 01:03:24 EDT from janame @ Uncensored Subject: Re: Installation of Citadel - Errors

Debian says yes and apt-get install --reinstall libssl-dev doesn't work.

Maybe because it should be "apt-get --reinstall install ..."

Any idea why the text client complains and spits out "ERROR: Extremely old server; MSG4 framework not supported." despite the server being a freshly compiled 911?

Subject: Evolution Calendar only read only access

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I set up a citadel server on my raspberry pi. Accessing calendars works without a problem, but I'm not able to write to / edit the calendar using Evolution. I get the following error message: 'Event cannot be edited, because the selected calendar is read only'.

The room is set to public access, no read only option checked and editing the calendar from webcit works just as expected using the same user account.

Do you have any idea what the might cause this behavior? I'm using citadel 8.24 from the raspbian jessie stable repo.

Hello!

I followed this link http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/faq:systemadmin:how_do_i_move_citadel_to_another_host?s[]=move&s[]=one&s[]=installation&s[]=another    to migrate a Citadel installation from repository (Debian / Ubuntu packages) to another Citadel installation from Easy Install. After the migration has ended it showed the message that it was not successful and my Citadel installation from Easy Install now shows the error:

This program was unable to connect or stay connected to the Citadel server. Please report this problem to your system administrator. And when I try to run setup  it shows me the error: Setup could not connect to a running Citadel server: Connection refused /user/local/citadel/citadel-admin.socket . I don't know how to fix this. How can I correctly migrate from one installation to another?

The systems are equal Ubuntu Server 16.04 amd64

Thanks in advance!

In the easy install server, go to /usr/local/citadel and issue (as root) ./setup and then check if it works.

I'm trying to unsubscribe from this list via
http://uncensored.citadel.org/listsub . Unfortunately, it promises to
send me an email to click on to confirm the unsubscription. This never
arrives. The mail server logs show no record of even an attempt to
deliver it. But I keep getting emails from the list.

Any ideas?

John

I did what you suggested, but nothing, same error: Setup could not connect to a running Citadel server: Connection refused /user/local/citadel/citadel-admin.socket .

Please forgive me, I am not feeling well. After I typed that, it went through my head that you would not connect because your citserver itself is not running.

Type:

ps auxx | grep citadel

and give that output, and also

service citadel status

(if you can pastebin it, it would be most helpful)

What do you get if you manually do service citadel start and then service citadel status?

And this I get after running :  service citadel status.  I think maybe the migration is wrong this way, maybe you can't migrate from one installation from the repository to another from Easy Install following the link that I followed.

So it looks like your citadel was stopped to facilitate the migration. There is a way to fix it, I just cannot remember it off the top of my head.

I would really appreciate if you could help me!! And what do you suggest about the migration, cause apparently this way isn't a good way to migrate from one installation to another?

Subject: Citadel with NGINX as Reverse Proxy on a Subdomain

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey there (again),

I installed Citadel and in the Setup I chose the ports for users to connect via http/s to be 2000/2443. When the setup asked me to chose an IP-Adress I chose 127.0.0.1. My Problem is, that I don't want Citadel being reached by the the IP-Adress:Port of the Server directly, I want it to be running behind a reverse Proxy (nginx) on a subdomain like https://user.example.org. I also found this Support-Document: http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:installation:apacheproxy#how.can.i.install.webcit.so.it.runs.alongside.apache.nginx.lighthttpd.on.port.80.443

Furthermore Citadel installed itself as a selfhosting webservice and when I rerun ./setup I cannot chose any other option? Can I do this manually somewhere?

Thanks for your help,

Jakob
