Did you install the dependencies and follow the directions for debian?

Yes, I did.

Tried easyinstall again and found out that compiling libcitadel requires package zlib1g-dev, which isn't listed as dependency. But...

 I currently have about 5 citadel installs all happily running on debian (from wheezy to Jessie) all using LDAP.

 This is a Stretch system, ...

... which leads to another compilation problem later, in the citadel package. The problem here is that Stretch already ships OpenSSL 1.1, which introduces API incompatible changes. So, in order to compile Citadel on Stretch, it has to be adapted to OpenSSL 1.1 first.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi there.  I am looking for a viable replacement for Microsoft's Small Business Server for a client that has a very small office of counselors and psychotherapists.  Their needs are very simple.  They barely send any emails, they just use shared calendars to book appointment rooms.  I discovered Citadel today and it looks like it may offer all that they need.  My only concern is the web site doesn't show any activity.  Is this project still alive?  I am totally new to the Linux world so I am starting at ground zero here and the installs for Citadel seem straight forward which is great.  I just don't want to take my client off of one old product and move them to another that will be considered obsolete as soon as I implement it.  I would appreciate learning if this project is still alive.  Thank you.

Project is alive and undergoing a major ( and much needed ) overhaul, underhaul, and long haul.

Best thing I can recommend is to set up a test server, give it some data, and then see if it is going to work for you. If something acts funny, mention it here, with relevant information and you will probably get the help you need fairly quickly. Are you planning on using the existing web interface for Calendars, or do you integrate with something speaking .ics?

Subject: Changing the SSL protocols supporting on a Citadel box

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Good Afternoon,

I am having an issue with securing a Citadel mail server over TLS and looking for advice. I have attached a screenshot of what I am seeing.  I need to be able to turn on support for TLSv1.2 and turn off support for SSLv3 to fully secure the email server.  Where are the configuration files for this?

Also, as a side question.  How can I make the log less verbose?

Thank you in advance,

Dave

What OS would you like to install on?

I would recommend the Easy Install method following the directions on: http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/installation:easyinstall:easyinstall

Make special note of the Prerequisites! If you skip this step, you will not get a working system.

Subject: Re: Crash: cursor still in progress on cdb XX

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi,

had the same problem after database corruption and a failed attempt to easy-install/upgrade from 902 to 903.

Recovery with db_recover and database cleanup prevented citserver from crashing on startup but it always exited with "cursor still in progress on cdb 02".

So I downloaded the citserver source and compiled it against the easy-install libraries after commenting the cdb_abort line as shown below.

This article was helpful to set up the compilation environment:
http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/installation:easyinstall:easyinstall:homebrew

I then ran it from the compilation location with:
# ./citserver -h/usr/local/citadel

let it flush the fulltext index to disk and set a DB checkpoint:
citserver[968]: fulltext: flushing index cache to disk (100% complete)
citserver[968]: db: -- checkpoint --

CTRL+C to the foreground process and start the "normal" citserver process with the init script.

All data is still still available!

It was however necessary to restore some files (messages etc.) from the backup and reconfigure the server options, probably caused by the easy_install script
not fully recognizing the previous installation and overwriting them during the installation.

So far, no problems have occured *knock wood*

Thanks for the useful hint!

Regards,
9lives

Hallo,

some problem occured during my upgrade from 9.01 to 902.

I changed

static void bailIfCursor(DBC ** cursors, const char *msg)
{
    int i;

    for (i = 0; i < MAXCDB; i++)
        if (cursors[i] != NULL) {
            syslog(LOG_EMERG, "bdb(): cursor still in progress on cdb %02x: %s", i, msg);
            //cdb_abort(); generates error in cdb.02 during upgrade from 9.01 to 902 or 903
        }
}

in citadel/database.c and comiled a temporary citserver.

You should start this temporary citserver only once to cleanup the "open transaction problem" for cdb02. After this cleanup You should use the unchanged citserver (902 or 903).

Subject: Server Relaying and Local delivery of Emails

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

As I had posted few days ago, i am trying to setup a Citadel server to work as a relay of my email server (for both incoming and outgoing emails) with local delivery of emails in Citadel behind a DSL Line.

Test Citadel Server setup is OK.

However I am at a loss, cannot follow the instructions of the wiki.

Tried to follow these links:

  1. Regarding Relay http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/faq:installation:relay?s[]=relay
  2. and remote retrieval of emails http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/faq:favoriteclient:how_do_i_retrieve?s[]=remote&s[]=retrieval

But nothing happens..

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
