When you run "setup" and designate an administrative account (regardless of the name), you're simply designating that account to be the first administrative account. If you're using internal authentication, then you still must go through the process to actually create the account.

Is there a way to contribute in the development of including the
zpush? How far along are you? Can it be tested as "beta"? Let me
know.

It hasn't been touched for a while, but if you want you can have a copy of the source tree and hack at it yourself.

created the user in the webcit and lokaly on the raspberry.

When i log into the webcit i have not the administration option.

In the installation guides they create the admin account when they installing the server via terminal.

After that they instantly log into the webcit. They dont create it with the webcit.

Wed Apr 06 2016 06:28:05 EDT from Denian @ Uncensored Subject: Cannot delete mails using webcit

Hi everybody,

for some reason, I cannot delete mails (or move them... or mark them as read...) using webcit - they just reappear when I refresh, Mails I have already read are marked as unread again. All other clients work as they should. Does anybody have an idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks,

Denian

Does nobody have an idea? I mean, fine, I can still use my mail client, but I actually like webcit and would like to be able to use it once more...

Hello,

I am also in a similar situation. However I am working with a start-up community group.

1. Which Linux Server is best to deploy Citadel on top of? I would use debian because it is quite easy to configure.

2. Does it work on VMWare? Yes you can put Debian in a VMWare System

3. Can it handle multiple domains? Yes it can

4. How does it intergrate with MS Outlook? This is one of the things that you might find quite difficult because of the way citadel works. You at the moment you are best of using thunderbird.

5. Do I need to reconfigure all my users laptops? You will be able to push thunderbird to the client computers

6. How does the Instant Messaging work? If you chose to use thunderbird you would be able to set it up to use the in-build IM client

7. How is it compared to MS Exchange? I find that the interface of citadel is much nicer. However the sync with outlook is rather limited

Regards,

Jeremy

If you pull our git repository you will find a directory called "ctdlphp" which is a generalized PHP framework for Citadel. Within that, there's a "z-push" directory that contains a Citadel back end for z-push.

Do be aware that it hasn't been worked on in a few years so it'll probably take some effort to get it talking to the latest version of z-push -- they have a tendency to break their own API from release to release.

Subject: Customer security concerns

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have a customer that likes the idea of citadel, but he wants all traffic coming from the server to be encrypted if possible. He wants the HTTP:// page to automatically redirect to the HTTPS:// page, he wants all outgoing emails to be encrypted it the receiving server supports it and he wants to block access to the unsecured pop, IMAP and SMTP ports. Is this possible or am I going to have to manually configure dovecot postfix and some other things for him?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've got one of my users being harassed by someone and while I know its possible that someone can just go get another email address somewhere, I wanted to find a simple way to just drop their inbound email or otherwise block it from the server side (my user has multiple imap devices, some of which don't support filtering -- iphones, etc)

Suggestions?

The web redirect is something you'd have to do by running a "regular" web server on port 80 to handle the redirect. I think everything else you can probably do with an iptables script on your server.

If you're runnning SpamAssassin with your Citadel server (easy since Citadel has the hooks built in), you can just do a blacklist_from entry in your local.cf file.

Subject: Adding aliases programatically

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi Citadel support,

I've been using Citadel as an email server on my raspberry pi and it's been running great, thanks for working on this project!

My question is I want to just run a simple script that adds a a certain email alias to a some certain citadel user instead of having to go through webcit all the time.

Another question, you guys think it's safe to expose webcit to the open web or I should keep it only to my local network?

Thanks a lot,

vstuff
