Subject: This program was unable to connect or stay connected to the Citadel...

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi!

I found lot of question about this error in the internet. I have installed Citadel following this article: http://www.raspifun.de/viewtopic.php?f=19&p=31 . System is fully new. Raspbian Jessie extended full on 32GB SDXC card. The Raspberry is model B+ V1.2. Have done all that is in the article:

- Raspbian update and upgrade

- Ipv6 enable

- the needed directory created and set up those rights

- all things does in Citadel setup and like recomended, does setup made again, all parameters (except  my own username and password) are the defaults

- set up fixed IP address to Raspi 10.0.0.10, properly give the gateway and nameserver IP's as routers address 10.0.0.5

- rebooted

The Raspi is in a system on routers LAN - no other server is running inside of private network 10.0.0.x.

!!! I does the whole installation 6 till 8 times last night without success (different IP's tested, tested accesss via https, restart Citadel, redo setup and so far, ...) And again tested on again fresh installed Raspbian !!!

May be, you can help me, but i readed tonns of articles about this, but not one was successfull to me.

Thank you,

Feri

i am at complete loss as to why i cannot not access my servers webmail

I don't see port 504 in the mix...port 504 is the Citadel port.

Did you configure it for 504 or for a different port?

I used the default settings except for the webcit when it prompted if it i wanted to use port 80. i chose 8080.

that's pretty much the primary change i made.

There do seem to be a few reports lately of port 504 not coming up.  You can run the setup program and get it started though.

However, for WebCit running on the same host as the Citadel Server, it doesn't use a port number; you merely tell the WebCit setup program what directory Citadel is running in, and it connects to a local socket.

Hi, i got a little problem. During every startup of citadel (9.01) i get following errors:

configuration setting c_baseroom is empty, but must not - check your config!

configuration setting c_aideroom is empty, but must not - check your config!

This happens since i updated from 8.24.  Is there a way i can resolve this without purging and reinstalling?

Subject: Citadel & Zpush integration - Complete? Working?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi,

I am new to Citadel and installed my first version just a week ago or so. I do not have it running properly quite yet but that is due to the config that I still need to do. Anyway my question is as I am using a Raspberry Pi the latest version that I can get through the apt-get is something 8.XX. Was z-push already integrated in that package so I can use it? If not how can I get the easy install for the PI?

Thanks for your feedback.

Regards

realShadow

Citadel integration with Z-Push is a development experiment that is not complete and is not in the published Citadel code.

That is a pity. Are there any timelines for it? Right now I use the Zarafa with Z-Push and it works just great because it is so easy. Anyway would be great if it was integrated in the short term.

How can I find out if I can contribute to the development?

Good day,

I trust you are well.

I am currently an IT Manager within a Small-Medium Sized company that has 60 employees. I have recently embarked on a challenge on increasing collaboration within the firm and my search has led me to Citadel.

My current mailing environment is a Gentoo Linux Solution running Exim with Mailscanner on a stand-alone mail server. I am looking at virtualizing my environment using VMWare vSphere Essentials kit 6 and consolidating my servers into one server (yes; there's someone who hasn't done that yet in 2016).

I would greatly appreciate the assistance in answering the following:

1. Which Linux Server is best to deploy Citadel on top of?

2. Does it work on VMWare?

3. Can it handle multiple domains?

4. How does it intergrate with MS Outlook?

5. Do I need to reconfigure all my users laptops?

6. How does the Instant Messaging work?

7. Can it handle File Sharing and/or Document Management?

8. Can it create a Global Address List in Outlook?

7. How is it compared to MS Exchange?

Your assistance in clearingmy ignorance would highly be appreciated.

Regards.

1. Don't email as admin, create an extra account! Only noobs use admin/root accounts for daily tasks. :-P

2. Have a look at the addressbook entry of your user. You can add what is an "alias" in other mail systems there.

2a. You would also have to find the configuration that allows users to use an email address which is different from their user account name.

2b. And configure your mail program to use that alias.

the admin@site.com is a user a created. it's not the root or admin user it self. but i cannot make it where when a email from starn@site.com does not send as admin@site.com.

citadel it self is ran as a user without admin privileges for security. we have chinese hackers trying to access the site on hourly bases.

Is there a way to contribute in the development of including the zpush? How far along are you? Can it be tested as "beta"? Let me know.

When you run "setup" and designate an administrative account (regardless of the name), you're simply designating that account to be the first administrative account. If you're using internal authentication, then you still must go through the process to actually create the account.
