Subject: Error configuring citadel suite.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I installed the suite on Ubuntu server 15.10 using apt-get. During the configuration set up, I had one error

Broadcast message from systemd-journald@ednet (Fri 2016-02-19 21:17:28 WET):
citserver[8844]: configuration setting c_default_cal_zone is empty, but must not - check your config!

I´m not sure where the file is or what to put in it.

Also, I am running Nginx web server on the same system, and when I ran the initial configuration, I forgot to change the plain http port from 80 to something else.

That resulted in this error:

Broadcast message from systemd-journald@ednet (Fri 2016-02-19 21:15:29 WET):
webcit[8350]: Can't bind: Address already in use

So I ran

dpkg-reconfigure citadel-server

It took me through creating the admin user, but not back to reconfigure the port. Is there a way that I can correct that?

Thanks

Trying to setup Citadel on a VM (VirtualBox 5.0.14 if that helps).

System is a Debian stretch.

Would love to copy the last page here (or attach it) as requested but I have not ever been able to figure out how to pass documents from a guest to the host. (If anyone cares to point me to a method that works I would be all ears!

Error message ends:

Is there a way to 'fix' the installation?

What needs to be done?

TIA

Subject: Re: Question about syntax for AuthN from an Ajax CAll

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

You've got an entire API here chief.  You can use the built-in sendcommand utility, or write something to talk to port 504.

Citserver returns a pipe-delimited string with a response code.  eg 200 80|24|260    Just tokenize the string to json and send it back to your battle station.

This kind of thing has been done a few times over.  https://bitbucket.org/robotamer/citadelphp

Hello. I am new to the Citadel world and am looking at it to replace some existing functionality.

With current functionality I am running a script to preform a basic Auth from a separate Application.

Does Citadel allow me to make an authenticated ajax call to the server to be logged in? IF so could anyone please provide some syntax help?

THank you

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Im not sure why but on my last couple servers the installation using easy setup did not create any ssl certs or keys etc. neither for webcit or citadel itself. Possibly openssl was not installed, though it is now. I followed the manual install steps and created the three citadel.* files in the keys directory and restarted citadel but it doesn't seem to see them.

Can someone help? I can pay for help. :)

Probably because Australia would need the bits inverted.  Nah, just kidding.  You will probably want to post any pertinent log information and error messages to the "Citadel Support" room over on the "The Home of Citadel" floor on this BBS (Uncensored).

Is it possible (or easy) to change citadel to disable certain ssl versions to avoid things like poodle, drown etc.

I could put it behind the apache on the box -- but I wanted to demo it as a standalone as well.

I want to tweak it to pass the SSL Labs test with an A or better if possible.  Would this require code changes or is there a config for me to tweak?

Hello,

I'm following the installation this installation guide: http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/faq:installation:installing_citadel_on_a_freebsd_5.4_or_6.0_os

Yes, it is outdated.

One problem with libcitadel I hacked away with line

in libcitadel.h, (loff_t was not defined in FreeBSD header hell) but later this one raised: (last lines of /tmp/citadel-install-log.txt)

Subject: Fighting with Install on Ubuntu - Crash or successful without LDAP

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Good evening/morning/day.

I'm trying to install Citadel on 14.04 LTS with support for LDAP integration - both for user authentication and address book/directory.  I am having two different issues depending on how I try to install:

If I use "apt-get install citadel-suite" the installation completes successfully, but when logging in, the LDAP authentication and address book are not functional - only the admin account created in install works.  The setting page "Admin-EditSiteWideConfig-Directory" shows "This Citadel server has been built without LDAP support, these settings will have no effect." I have tried both Compliant LDAP and Non-Compliant LDAP modes in installation with the same affect.

Alternately, if I use the "EasyInstallation" method (including installing the Debian/Ubuntu prerequisites) the process fails - after responding to config settings the installer begins the "Applying, restarting" cycle and fails each time.  Specifically in what I think is the final step, showing "Restarting to apply settings" it stalls at 95% and never moves again - even if left for hours.

I've tried both methods repeatedly with completely clean minimal OS builds and with more complete/standard builds.  The failures are consistent and reliable.

Would really like to get this installed and running but I'm approaching the "FU" point and considering jumping ship to another solution.

Any suggestions/assistance is welcome.

Thanks.

I'm having trouble with setting up multiple domains for my mail server. I need @davixxa.net and @moe-desu.com to work on the server. I have already added it under alias, as well as having atleast @davixxa.net set up as a MX record at my domain CP (though, moe-desu works with recieving mails, so I'd presume that a MX record is set up there), however I only get the option to use the domain set in the FQDN.
