Subject: Re: citadel-suite (with easyinstall), freeradius and mysql-server

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I try to install citadel-suite (with easyinstall), freeradius and mysql-server on a raspberry pi 2 (jessie).

Is this is fresh up-to-date installation on the raspberry ? Or can you try it on such a "clean" system ?

First I'd try to get freeradius working manually because that seems the beginning of all your troubles. The rest of the log entries mostly deal with dependency issues from the package management. Therefore I was asking if that's a fresh/clean installation.

Greetings from someone in the sighting distance of OE6XCD ;-)

Wed Nov 18 2015 07:06:19 EST from dbaldaro @ Uncensored Subject: uncompress errors during purge

My Citadel server is set to autopurge every day - and just recently it crashes every time it tries to do so, finally failing with an uncompress() error.

Where should I start looking to fix this?

Anyone?

This is the output I get when I try and start CitServer manually from the command line.

When I run database_cleanup.sh I get the following:

# ./database_cleanup.sh

ls: cannot access /usr/bin/db?*recover: No such file or directory

database_cleanup.sh cannot find the Berkeley DB utilities.  Exiting.

Exiting.

Yeah - figured that bit out :)

is there an binary package for Ubuntu, or a how-to? Everything ive seen suggests compiling from source.

  If you haven't already found it; for db v5.3, that would be db5.3-util.

OK - so I have backed up and run the database_cleanup.sh. No errors are reported and the citserver starts OK afterwards.

However upon the next scheduled purge, citserver crashes and again refuses to start. Running database_cleanup.sh allows me to restart - but I cannot do that everyday.

The error upon starting seems to be the same still:

is there an binary package for Ubuntu, or a how-to? Everything ive seen suggests compiling from source.

  If you haven't already found it; for db v5.3, that would be db5.3-util.

OK - so I have backed up and run the database_cleanup.sh. No errors are reported and the citserver starts OK afterwards.

However upon the next scheduled purge, citserver crashes and again refuses to start. Running database_cleanup.sh allows me to restart - but I cannot do that everyday.

The error upon starting seems to be the same still:

citserver[12714]: CC[0]MSG<Local System Configuration> 22 new of 22 total messages

citserver[12714]: Purged 1 users.

citserver[12714]: uncompress() error

hm, thats definitely not nice.

Please keep a copy of that database so that we may have several attempts to fix this.

You will have to compile a debug citserver from the source.

either from git via http://code.citadel.org/?p=citadel.git;a=summary tag v8.24 to match your version.

or via the debian mechanism: http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:installation:compile_debs

(the later should be done after running export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=debug in the shell)

Once you've got a debug build at hand:

1) you should be able to tigger this behaviour using

sendcommand TDAP

within the next minute.

2) run citserver in gdb, trigger the fault.

post the output of bt full here (x-out any private data..)

since its purging, my hope is, that it will be easily possible to fake this run by modifying

citadel/database.c, cdb_decompress_if_necessary() and replace the following lines:

        if (uncompress((Bytef *) uncompressed_data,
                       (uLongf *) & destLen,
                       (const Bytef *) compressed_data,
                       (uLong) sourceLen) != Z_OK) {
                syslog(LOG_EMERG, "uncompress() error\n");
                cdb_abort();
        }
by some fake code which we have to decide upon the output of the bt full.

Appreciate the help and all, but after several days of getting no-one, all emails stopped coming through - so can only suspect a corrupt DB.

Took the decision to remove citadel and go down the postfix/dovecot route given the number of users that I have and the amount of obtainable support thats available.

Thanks folks, for your help.

So I've been doing a lot of shady things with symlinks and jails, but I've gotten everything to work so far except Citadel. Note that I was attempting to install Citadel as root, with root access, and far from any of my jails; so it shouldn't honestly be affected by all my weird jail configurations, but that's really my only non-standard event on my system. I get the error in the attached each time, however, even when I clear out the sums to force a complete reinstall via the easy install method.
