you need to recompile webcit in order to see your strings.

see http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/installation:sourcecode howto get the source

run

git checkout stable-82x

to get the latest stable

and follow

http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/faq:installation:compile_debs

or

Subject: libcitadel loff_t problem on freebsd

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Howdy,

First off really happy with citadel I have had it running on a raspberry pi for some time now =)

Second I know freebsd is not really supported.

But I tried to easy install on a freebsd jail.

Found out that libcitadel wont compile after
http://code.citadel.org/?p=citadel.git;a=commitdiff;h=c31dbb88d22c57ac54d98017658e63bde50c7614

It complains about

CC: lib/libcitadel.c
In file included from lib/libcitadel.c:30:
lib/libcitadel.h:262: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'loff_t'
*** [lib/libcitadel.lo] Error code 1

I don't really have a fix ... but got everything up and running by changing loff_t to long again.

Could you point me in the right direction where is this 'loff_t' coming from?

Cheers
Axel

You just dpkg -i <.debfiles> and it will upgrade the existing ones.

hm, yes this is linux specific.

its supposed to be a uint64_t which you should have?

so... edit libcitadel.h and add

#ifndef LINUX_SPLICE

#ifndef loff_t

typedef uint64_t loff_t

#endif

#endif

Hi,

Thank you very much for help now I have success upgrade citadel on Raspberry PI from 8.14 to latest 8.2. Only I must switch off jabber client in config and replace by ejabberd which working very well with communications users with different Citadel Nodes. It maybe in feature when Citadel will be full support s2s communication (will be nice) maybe we switch to jabber use with citadel. It is better use one account to email and jabber

Regards

Fri Aug 30 2013 10:57:12 EDT from taylorconor @ Uncensored Subject: Citadel login popup window

I'm running Citadel on my raspberry pi, I just set it up using the Easy Install. I've noticed that when using the Safari browser (either on my Mac (OSX 10.8) or my iPad), that clicking the login button in the icon bar does nothing, no login window pops up.

This seems to be a problem with my setup, as clicking the login button on this particular site works fine on Safari and on my iPad. I've noticed as well that the Easy Install installed WebCit 8.14, while this site is running 8.20, could that be the problem?

Thanks

Hi Taylor,

Im having this same problem, sort of.   I have cit 8.16 installed on a customer's site, and they cannot access it using a new ipad. Same issue - login btn appears, but the login window does not display. Same problem with both safari and chrome on their ipad.

I am wondering if upgrading citadel to 8.22 might fix the issue, as I notice that some of the HTML for the login form has changed / improved.  Just wondering if you ever found a fix for this issue ?

Thanks

Steve

there are also some messages from citserver, which are not (yet) translateable, plus the message files are editable, but not in different languages...

Ah, the login form, a constant source of joy...

Does it work now on all your platforms and their browsers?

Sometimes, when you change little things in html and you do a quick test in firefox only, it might seem as if it works, while the other browsers choke on your small edit. Currently, I have this feeling that FF tries to replace IE6 in awkwardness.

In general, expect the webinterface to become more usable and beautiful, with lots of love for mobile devices. Sadly, this will take time and I do not expect to finish it in the 8.x release cycle.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Yep, works on "all platforms" in this case ... since the user base is closed and limited to a handful of people with known devices in this instance, I can actually state that with some confidence :)

Without descending into too much debugging hell, I think the big difference between 8.22 and the earlier stuff that wasn't working is that the earlier stuff wrapped the modal form in a set of <html> tags., and 8.22 does not.  Plus some other stuff. Thats just a guess though.

Ah - the black hole of mobile device compatibility. I wouldn't loose too much sleep over that for any 8.x releases.  Its a hard call really ..... it might be tempting to think that rebuilding a new interface using bootstrap or similar 3rd party libraries might get around all mobile compatibility and "responsive layout" issues .... but then its not purely Citadel anymore. I hate it when you loose control over your development by relying on 3rd parties with their divergent roadmaps. That can suck.

Much praise to Citadel for failing on the login screen, which really does bring the issue to a head, pretty much immediately ! Seriously - nothing worse than having subtle UI bugs buried away in hard to find places :)

Another Happy Citadel convert here - many more installations to come then !

I only have 100-125 MB of memory to spare. Is this sufficient? I have been scowering the forums, google, ect for an easy install/config, small ram consumption, single-catchall-multi-login IMAP inbox for Ubuntu 12.04 and so far have yeilded fruitless searches. The server I am running this on is a rackspace 512Mb server that has to run Apache, MySQL, and sks along with the mail server so resources are limited.
