try running

sendcommand IGAB

to rebuild your recipient database.

check with

sendcommand QDIR emailaddress

to whom a mail is delivered.

Try editing the users vcard as aide user.

Love your answers dothebart :) , because I always end learning more.

I found this old post:

Subject: Sent mail mark as unread and Sieve configuration too

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

The sent mails (saved by Citadel used as SMTP server) are marked as unread. Is there a means to mark them as read by default?

In the Lobby, the message ‘Sieve configuration’ is everyday marked as unread by Citadel, even if one marks it read...

Thank you,

Gilles.

Subject: Admin user .. ldap

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Anyone using citserver with ldap?  I'm trying to find a way to make the admin user sticky..

I have to re-run setup every time and change back to internal auth in order to get the Administration menu back in webcit. I tried to use .aide user edit and change one of my ldap users access levels, but it doesn't make the Admin menu appear.

Thoughts?

First rule of LDAP auth: Your admin user is not set up with his login name!

Second rule of LDAP auth: Your admin user is not set up with his login name!

Third rule of LDAP auth: Your admin user has set a full name, a first name, a surname, that is the string you provide to citadel setup.

Example:

loginname in ldap = example

full name in ldap = Edward Xavier Ample

first name in ldap= Edward, last name in ldap = Ample

You provide citadelsetup with "Edward Xavier Ample" (minus the "), if that does not work "Edward Ample" should work. I need to get this into the documentation asap.

Does that Important Note section help you? It is important what you provide as System Administrator "name". Can you tell me if that info does help you or if it needs clarification or if your problem still persists.

It somewhat helps, and confirms what I had already seen, that that the user information showing up in "who's online" and the user list was coming from the cn value, although it seems like authentication was taking place against uid.  The thing which was bothering me is that I had to turn ldap auth on in order to test it, then my admin user info was "not found" (not in ldap), and I therefore didn't have access to the Administration menu in webcit until I re-ran setup and set auth back to 0 for internal, then back again to test, which got old pretty fast.  Also, for some reason the default install location of /var/run/citadel/ didn't coincide with my /var/lib/citadel/ and wouldn't stick, so I got a lot of practice typing that about 40 times.

As long as I'm in the confessional, I'll share I probably have remnants of about 3 installs: packages from Ubuntu 64 server (*-suite), some things I was compiling and had unmet dependencies, and after I lost patience with that, whatever got installed when I used easy installer, which I had an intuition was FreeBSD-ish.  I had to copy everything to /etc/citadel/messages out of one of the source folders, and grab an init script from somewhere because the one in init.d couldn't find anything, so my install is pretty challenged. I think I have about 50% BSD style file locations on this Linux box, but I wouldn't think that would affect authentication though.  What the hell is wrong with me?  Well, if I knew that I could probably do something about it. Hah. Seriously though, the Debian packages used to be perfect, I'm not sure what happened there.

Thanks for your help. I'll spend some more time looking at it on Sunday, drag out the source, and write up whatever I find which could be helpful to others.

instead of emailaddress - i tried sahil, sandeep and then sandeep@sheila.master - same response.

then changed sahil user to aide level - restarted citadel - same situation. i can send emails to sahil via web interface of sheila.master but not through thunderbird. any setting in thunderbird that requires tweaking?

Subject: Citadel/webcit freezes

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have been running Citadel 8.14 for a number of months with not much problem aside from the occasional freeze that requires restart of citadel/webcit and, in serious cases, a server reboot.

Lately these freezes are becoming more common. I don't see anything suspicious in mail.err, the last error was from August 7:

Aug  7 17:06:35 mail citadel: bdb(): txn_commit: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery

Looks serious but I don't see any error that is more recent. So I'm wondering what steps I need to take to diagnose this further. I'm not seeing error messages, which is making diagnosis difficult.  Thanks.

Subject: a few questions after installation?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi.

I recently installed citadel on my Ubuntu 13.04 server.

I have a few questions though.

1.  When I installed the webcit, I had the webcit and ssl ports set to random ports because Apache2 is already taking 0  and 443 or whatever the ssl port is.  How do I check if https is working?  I tried going to the webcit with https:// but  firefox gave me an error.

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

Also, whenever I check the address when I'm on the webcit, it doesn't say http or https.  It just starts with the domain name and the port and the page that its on.

Does this mean https is off, and how do I get it ot work?

2.  I tried emailing myself with my gmail account, and I got an error.

550 unrecognized user

or something like that.

I tri connecting to pop3 and smpt servers and they worked fine.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks!

Try updating...there were a number of issues where the citserver would have some issues with its database and shut itself down. These appear to have been remedied in recent versions.

Subject: Jabber/XMPP servers

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi,

We have running a few citadel servers and each server have local users. They have connect to local jabber/XMPP server with pidgin and they have can send messages between users which connect to local citadel server. But when user when add to list users form other citadel jabber server they can not see status and can not send messages to this user.

It is look Jabber/XMPP servers citadel don't communicate with otthers citadel jabber servers ??? It maybe we have mistake in configuration citadel ?

I have attached screedump netwwork services setup from our citadel 8.14 on Raspberry PI
