Yup. Very strong flavor. Lots of iron. When you speak of "peasant" food - this is the sweet spot. That and blood sausage. 

Just like the American South - the food with the most flavor comes from the poorest quarters made from the worst leavings. If you ever get the chance, try it, at least. It is a strong taste. If you like wild game, you'll like Kidney Pie. They drown it in gravy and the kidney is just little bits and kibbles. It is mostly potatoes and vegetables and sauce. So good.

Or eventually you get to the end of your quest... It took me 35-ish years to finish Ultima III... and my characters died a hundred times or more getting there - but at the end of it, THEY didn't know they had died. Every time they died - they just snapped back and the next time avoided the mistake that got them un-alived.

The issues I have in my esophagus with this kind of rocket fuel, and sometimes cigars, and occasionally hot sauce - makes me a little concerned that I should talk to someone professional about Val Kilmer. 

But I mean - there are SO many ways I've abused my body since I was about 13 - I must be a dozen different ticking timebombs. 

I'm a Blanton's Gold right now. I started with a EH Taylor Barrel Proof... 127 proof. I don't know why I thought that was a good idea. Every little sip, over a 2 hour period - was like an episode of Hellraiser. The universe enjoying my intense pain. My friends are all about anything below 100 proof being for sissies. You know how people smell the nose of a whiskey and go, "I smell vanilla and hints of oak with cherry and blackberry finish..." 

127 proof Barrel Proof EH Taylor has a nose of cobbler's glue and turpentine with a racing fuel finish. It is as pleasant as surprise prison shower sex - with the same kind of dazed, laying on the tiles, sobbing finish. And it is EXPENSIVE AF for the misery.

There aren't - you're right. We act like we live in the worst time in history - but we live in a time where a relatively poor kid in India can be heard globally with a post he makes on a cheap Android phone or at an Internet cafe. 

More people have more of a voice that reaches further than any time in society.

Actually i have no problem with such speculation as to the origins of humanity. The way i look at it is: if a mothership full of green people from a advanced form of life that could teach humankind to live in harmony with each other and our planet, landed on the Whitehouse lawn: i wouldn't even get the day off work to watch it on TV, and after 8 hours work i would still need to shower cook and relax before i even thought about the end of the world as we know it, and i'm sure the next day wouldn't be a public holiday either.

We used find all sorts of things in the woods near us in Kent 30 miles south of London (England) (no gps unfortunately). There was an old fort, whioch would have been part of the coastal defences for the Thames estuary (it was on high ground a couple of miles from the river , but would have had big guns aimed at passing shipping ... ), the local paperboy, or maybe new stand owner must have used the place as a dumping ground, aswell as xxx, there would be magazines on cars,  planes, all sorts of hobbies ... It was an overgrown place with woods all around, which now is actually nearly restored to its previuos working state as a barracks minus the big gun enplacements on top (a tourist attraction very soon ... )

Lately I have been chopping up bacon, peppers, onions and mushrooms and letting that cook down.  When it is ready I throw in some blue cheese, let it get melty and put it on top of a rare cooked hamburger.  Fantastic.

The only people that should cook and eat beef well done is vegetarians.

A greasy sandwich for a greasy world . Now adulterate with, tomato sauce (ketchup), or brown sauce (HP/Daddies/US equivalent unknown :) ).

A BLT is a BLT the world over i suspect. Mostly made using a French stick/small baguette.

Breakfast in a bun is hard to beat also. Combining the greasy chic of a bacon 'sarnie' (sandwich), with the delight of a baguette: consisting of your classic English breakfast ingredients all in your messy hand. (eggs, bacon, and sausages sometimes with mushrooms packed into a torpedo style roll/or an actual real  baguette). Found at all your most reputable roadside trailer burger vans in England. :P

Back when I could get streaming Absolute 80's (before they cut us off over in the colonies) - I heard an advert that was a PSA warning you not to fry chips while drunk.  I thought it was hilarious, but now, I give pause to that humor. 

As I understand it, the standard procedure is:

1. Spend the evening down at the pub getting pissed (which means "drunk," not "angry")

2. Cook up some bacon sarnies

3. Slather the bacon sarnies with HP Sauce

4. Eat until you're ready to start drinking again

If I got it right, it's time to pour another round and fire up the griddle...

HP sauce, and all the brown sauces (they are very similar) are spicy sauces to use with meat or egg dishes especially. Very much vinagary than BBQ sauces, not really related atall. More in common with chilli sauces almost, like a chilliusauce with the chilli takewn out and replaced with a weird concoxtion of spices.

It is the two sauces we use for a real fried breakfast here in England. People tend to put red sauce/ketchup on there chips/potato fries, and brown sauce on the meat/sausages etc...

so spicey ketchup without the tomatoes:)

"gravy" has to have meat drippings in it.  Brown sauce is popular across the pond, it is from what I can tell, sort of a less-sweet version of barbecue sauce.

to be honest, the last time i've been to munich I wasn't in the age to demand a beer on the pub - and I sort of didn't like it there.

well, for a litre in a pub you'd be rather at around 5 eur now - so these times are long gone over here.

Beer is around the £3 mark - so thats about $4.50 in a bar over here. I'll double check this week in my area actually, the prices vary considerably.

In the UK it's around the 6.5 dollar mark right now, as there is a price war on.  So that is around £1.14 a litre ($1.73 aprox)

A couple of months back it was around £1.30-£1.40 a litre which is around $7 or $8 a gallon.

we pay OVER $7 a gallon.

I guess the cheapest way for everyone would be ferry boats, and pay the ferry man for the time the bridge is in place.

But paying someone for a hot backup and doing nothing sounds very unamerican to me - like comunism.

I have used Citadel at home for years.  Simple set-up (easy-install).

My family has Citadel under my domain name as a fall-back when "other" services fail.  Cheap to run when you do it via a cheap VPS.  Glad it is there.

Looks like the monochromeBBS people will write a new BBS from scratch, if it ever happens. Some of them have already written alot of code as 'proofs of concept' and such like.

I just came across a wordpress blog from a germany company using citadel as partof their comms system. They were using KDE Kontact funambol etc..  It's good to see people using your project in various ways. But! Where is the links to people like that or a page with some case-studies (along  with the people using citadel on stuff like raspperry Pi's, and peopleusing citadel at home for their family and friends communication needs etc ) ?

What is it about this Monochrome BBS that is so appealing? I have to say right now that I just don't have the bandwidth to tackle another client project right now. But if the people who run Monochrome were to commit to switching to Citadel Server if we could duplicate their beloved UI, I might be convinced...

I've forwarded a message to  handful of people on the MonochromeBBS recomending using citserver as a base for maybe a new BBS (an open source BBS) so the right people should be having a look at citadel soon i hope. It's obviously up to those guys to decide, it would be great if it is of use to their plans for the future.

For me it has been the ease of use, it just all gels. But for the userbase it is a community, and most of them went to university in the UK in the 90's before the web came into being - so it was all cutting edge then, (it's not so UK-centric now though) and alot of them still meet up (the London ones anyhow) and have a few beers etc.. 

I wasn't making a request for a new client IG. If those guys did see citserver as a good fit, base for/backend to a new version monoBBS, they could make a start. I am glad it  seems citserver has the possibility to be used this way. :) 

The actual Mconv program was written a long time ago by  one of  the regulars on monochrome BBS.  It was tested as a live BBS by about a dozen of the monochrome BBS users at the time - but it seems no-one is much interested in it now.

The actual monocrome BBS (mono) is run by the users, but the actual code (and the mono.org domain) belong to the original author- who seems to have little interest  in the BBS these days. They've been talking about rewriting the whole mono software for years,  although it is well maintained and each section on the actual BBS is also under someone's administration - it's getting old. Some day soon i hope the real work of rewriting the original mono software will get under way, the people to do it are still active members,  oneof the main sticking  points is  what features to add or keep. Also the content that is on there (which  is vast) will never be allowed to be viewed via http even if people do want to open the bbs to the web, many would like to keep it just as it is.

I hope it will get off soon,and get open-sourced.  It's a  cracking little BBS/online community,still very active, and i love the easy menu driven interface, I'm sure it would be a great way  to view and interact with content on a citadel.

Nice.  I have always liked the more ansi / curses like looks of things that did that.  The mconv code seems to have made extensive use of terminal escape codes in the C code (rather than a library), so it would be hard to do in Python using the ctypes wrapper.  If you wanted to re-use the code in mconv, it would be better if there were libraries for use that held the display logic for the terminal escape code stuff.

It looks cool none the less.  Thanks for sharing it.

Ah! Tis cosy here (real wood beam and post ceilings, a polished mahogony (?) bar and glasses hung above. Massive brass-topped beer taps, each it's own brand-name at the base (GNU-bru, Colt42, Green-Seamen , and  Watkins Red Barrel :P ).  A few customers sit in the shadows, at their tables, sipping drinks and quietly talking. The bar is empty. No one in-front or behind. ) "hello!"
